Ablaze Communications (2)

Origin:

In the Pastoral Instruction: Aetatis Novae released by the Pontifical Council on Social Communications, it was emphasized that “it is for God's faithful people to make creative use of the new discoveries and technologies for the benefit of humanity and the fulfillment of His plan for the world, employing the full potential of the 'computer age' to serve the human and transcendent vocation of every person, and to bring glory to the Father from whom all good things come".

Media can be used to proclaim the Gospel or to reduce it to silence in human hearts.  Thus, the need to make apostolic use of such means has become all the more essential in helping form the Christian spirit of the community, so that media, like salt and light, will add savor to the earth and light to the world (Inter Mirifica, Second Vatican Council's Decree on the Media of Social Communications).

Ablaze Communications is the social communications arm of Couples for Christ.  It communicates the behavior and interaction of CFC, and the experience of our culture as a means of strengthening and unifying the community.  Ablaze serves to enable and propel the vision and mission of CFC through social communication, which has become the chief means of information, education, and even guidance and inspiration of individuals, families, and society as a whole.

The blazing fire that surrounds the dove and ring has a two-fold symbolism: First, it represents veneration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is the symbol of Christ’s burning love that enriches, enlightens, and governs humanity.  Second, it also originates from the tongues of fire that came down on the Apostles, representing the commissioning of social communication as a medium.

Rationale of Flame Ministry

The Flame Ministry – the first Social Ministry of Couples for Christ

Rationale:

We Catholics in many ways have failed to communicate to the secular world. Most of the books written by Catholic authors have failed to reach the bestseller list. Christian music has fallen short in making it to the top ten hits. Shirts with religious leanings are not worn in public, only in churches and gatherings of congregations. Christ is our message. It is a beautiful message of love and salvation. We need to create ways by which our message will be heard by the majority. Mass media is a powerful tool in shaping the minds of people. If we do not act, we are losing the battle by default. We are competing against the most popular television networks and a highly materialistic generation. We need to capture the hearts and minds of our audience using solid content that is presented in a dynamic way.

“Couples for Christ” is in the thick of the spiritual battle. We shall employ the most brilliant marketing strategies to bring forth our message across many generations.

Ministry or Job ?

by Anna Sandberg

Some people have a job in the community
Others invite themselves in a ministry
What's the difference?

If you are doing it just because no one else will, it's a job
If you are doing it to serve the Lord, it's a ministry

If you quit because somebody criticized you, it's a job
If you keep on serving, it's a ministry

If you'll do it only as long as it does not interfere with your other activities, it's a job
If you are committed to staying with it even if it means letting go of other things, it's a ministry

If you quit because no one praised you or thanked you, it's a job
If you stay with it even though nobody recognized your efforts it's a ministry

It's hard to get excited about a job
It's almost impossible not to be excited about a ministry

If our concern is success, it's a job
If our concern is faithfulness, it's a ministry

An average community is filled with people doing jobs
A great and growing community is filled with people involved in ministry

Where do we fit in?
What about us?

If God calls you to a ministry, don't treat it like a job
If you have a job, give it up and find a ministry

God doesn't make us feeling stuck with a job
But excited and faithful to HIM in a ministry

Are we growing in our Christian walk?

Are we growing in our Christian walk?
What can we do to strengthen it?

Spiritual growth as a Christian is a matter of choice and results from trusting God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each day we make the decision to follow Jesus, the object of our faith. A life of faith enables us to trust God increasingly each day with every detail of our life, and to practice the following:

G---Go to God in daily prayers. (John 15:7)
R---Read God’s Word daily. (Acts 17:11) You can begin with the Gospel of John
O---Obey God moment by moment. (John 14:21)
W---Witness for Christ by your life and words. (Mathew 4:19; John 15:8)
T---Trust God for every detail of your life. (1 Peter 5:7)
H---Holy Spirit: Allow Him to control and empower your daily life and witness. (Gal 5:16, 17; Acts 1:8)

Let’s pray that the Lord will guide us daily to a closer walk with Him.

BIBLE VERSE:  2 Peter 3:18

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
